Your Opinion Matters: Library System Requests Community Feedback to Further Enhance Strategic Plan

In order to continue to evolve their strategic plan to meet the needs of the community, the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) has launched a continuous online community survey for Somerset County residents. “We want to hear from you about how you feel about your community and your Library,” said Lynn Hoffman, director of operations. “This continuous survey will remain open indefinitely, and we will pull data sets from it periodically to help us assess our strategic plan activities and results.” So that Library customers can #BeSafeAtHome during the pandemic, the Library System transitioned programs to virtual platforms; expanded existing and created new virtual services; and launched the Supportive Assistance for Education (S.A.F.E.) Families initiative.  By participating in the survey, the community can offer feedback about these newer offerings; share their opinions about the ways they wish to use the Library in the future; and answer questions about the community.  "A lot has changed in our world since our last community survey,” continued Hoffman. “We want to find out whether our strategic priorities still reflect the needs of our communities, and make adjustments if needed." The goal of the 13-question online survey is to enhance the Library System’s current strategic priorities and core services. The current plan includes addressing the needs of shifting demographics; creating opportunities that build Somerset County’s economic and workforce development; promoting and supporting lifelong learning; and more. Since 2018, the Library System has used the Dynamic Planning Model developed by the Public Library Association (PLA), as a guide for the strategic plan. This model allows the Library System to adapt, learn, and grow in order to continue to provide the highest level of services to Somerset County residents. Your opinion matters.
