The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) is not only a place for finding a great read. SCLSNJ is also a great place for community connecting, intellectual conversation, and art exploration.
SCLSNJ's North Plainfield branch, located at 6 Rockview Avenue in North Plainfield, will be hosting the art work of North Plainfield photographer George Malanga through August 31, 2024. His exhibit, titled Wildlife of the Southeastern United States, features a collection of images. Malanga photographs using film-based 35 millimeter, medium format, as well as digital equipment. He has traveled and captured images from Africa to Europe and the Americas.

SCLSNJ's Warren Township branch, located at 42 Mountain Boulevard in Warren Township, will be hosting the art work of local Bedminster artist Joyce M. Lembo through July 31, 2024. Her exhibit, titled Art for the Heart, features mixed media including acrylic on canvas as well as mixed-photography enhanced in Photoshop.
"My hope is to have my art tell a story; evoke a feeling; touch one's heart," said Lembo. "Art begins as a concept and grows into an incredible creation that emanates from the heart. It has a spiritual purpose - beginning to completion. Whether the artist is aware of this occurring or not - I have always believed the creative process is propelled from the very deepest essence of the heart - perhaps it comes from the soul. No matter what we believe, there is no greater joy than to see a young child with a box of crayons happily working away with pure freedom with no cares, totally lost in the creative process."
