This conversation will be led by Dr. Raechel Lutz, an environmental historian and high school social studies teacher based in Central New Jersey. Drawing on her expertise in environmental history, technology, and energy—as well as her award-winning doctoral research on pollution and industry in New Jersey—she will guide us through the stories and scholarship that bring this book to life.
She will also share insights into the research and editorial process behind the volume, highlight a few favorite chapters, and explore how nature has shaped New Jersey’s past, present, and future. Spanning regions from North, Central, and South Jersey to the Delaware Water Gap, the Pinelands, and the Shore, the book brings together a diverse group of scholars to examine how landscapes across the state have influenced human experience over time. A Q&A session will follow, with time for questions about the book and its development.
