Wizards and Muggles Unite! Local Libraries are hosting Harry Potter Book Night Programs
Somerset County Library System of New Jersey libraries offer nine opportunities to celebrate the wonder and magic of Harry Potter February 1 & 2
(Somerset County, NJ: January 9, 2017) Almost two decades ago, a young boy emerged from a cupboard under the stairs and walked right into the hearts of millions of people. Today, with over 400 million copies of the books sold worldwide, Harry Potter still has a strong presence in readers of all ages. “Harry Potter continues to be popular, especially with the release of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ this past summer,” said Laura Frantz, SCLSNJ collection development librarian. “For the Harry Potter enthusiasts looking for something new, I suggest the illustrated versions of the first two books that were released in 2015 and 2016, which can be found in our library branches. There are also a few book tie-ins with the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ movie--such as the ‘Magical Movie Handbook’ and the ‘Character Guide’--based on J.K.Rowling’s book. There are lots of ways Harry Potter fans can explore the world of fantasy; just ask one of our staff members.” "For Harry Potter make this lower case fans, Rowling's universe is more than an entertaining escape,” said Jessica Trujillo, SCLSNJ’s youth services manager. “With the Harry Potter series we are given a way to understand our world and ourselves. With every re-read, we are reminded that love and hope will always triumph over hatred and fear. We are reminded that every one of us can be a hero in our own way. Harry Potter Book Night gives us all a chance to come together to celebrate this series that has made such an impact on us."
