“The Paradise Problem” by Christina Lauren
Review by Yvonne Selander, collection development librarian
Anna married West in college so she could qualify for university housing. When he moved out, she signed a ton of paperwork and waved good-bye. Now, three years later, West is on her doorstep. She figured she signed divorce papers all those years ago. Nope. She’s still married. And he has to go to his sister’s wedding and the family still wants to meet West’s…wait a minute, is his name actually Liam?... wife Anna. It’s a free week on a private tropical island with a handsome guy she married and doesn’t even know. He’s cute and nice. How bad can it be? What do you do when you start falling for your husband?
This dynamo writing duo never ceases to amaze and thrill me. The fake relationship trope, nevermind having the couple actually legally wed for years, is one that rarely rings true. But these authors made it happen. You can see these two people falling into their problems for good reasons, with the best of intentions, and having it blow up their worlds. You will cheer for them, sigh with them, and hope for them to get their HEA (happily ever after).
