“The Mystery Guest” by Nita Prose
Review by Yvonne Selander, collection development librarian
It’s been a few years since the scandalous murder occurred at the Regency Grand Hotel and the hotel staff has gotten into a comfortable routine. Molly Grey is Head Maid and makes sure all the rooms are left in a state of perfection. She’s especially anxious that all be perfect for the grand reopening of the tearoom and what better inaugural event than a press conference called by a bestselling literary author, one that rarely gives interviews. All is going well until the author, after sipping his tea at the podium, drops dead. Could it be murder? Of course, it is!
Everyone is back from “The Maid,” and Molly once again is integral to the plot. Those who enjoyed the first in the series will really enjoy the background information including learning why she and her Gran called their savings “The Faberge.” A lot ties back to Molly’s past. While the murder drives the plot, it’s puzzling out the reason for the press conference that intrigued me the most. An interesting premise and infuriating as well. I have to admit I’m wondering what trouble Molly will stumble into in the next book.
