Somerset County Library System of New Jersey's 5th Annual Book Lovers Tea Goes Virtual

About Blog Post Sep 24, 2020 by Pressroom
Adult fiction fans brew your favorite cup of tea (or other hot beverage) and tune-in to the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Book Lovers Tea every Thursday throughout the month of October on the Library System’s YouTube channel.  “So that you can #BeSafeAtHome, we are delighted to be able to host our 5th annual Book Lovers Tea event virtually,” said Yvonne Selander, SCLSNJ’s collection development manager. “We are going to be doing things a bit differently this year to best fit our customers’ needs during the pandemic. Instead of one long event, I will share the best reads of 2020, and a sneak peek into those coming out in 2021, through a weekly series.” Pre-recorded videos will be shared weekly at SCLSNJ.org/youtube, focusing on a specific literary genre including: modern romance, speculative fiction, life, mysteries and thrillers, and a sneak peek at upcoming releases. “I have noticed that many people’s reading habits have changed during the pandemic,” said Selander. “Our customers have found themselves with more time to read, allowing them to step out of their comfort zones and explore new genres. I am excited to share some of my favorite diverse reads with our customers.” Digitally discover Selander’s modern romance reads with an e-audiobook or e-book: “Don’t worry if you forgot the name of the next book you wanted to read,” continued Selander. “The best part about hosting this event virtually is that our customers can reference back to these videos at any time, even after the event is over.” "Our number one core service at SCLSNJ is connecting people with just the right resources from our collection,” said Lynn Hoffman, director of operations. “We know people love Yvonne's Book Lovers Tea suggestions because every year the titles she talks about get a lot of checkouts. I'm so glad we've been able to find a way to make her expert recommendations available even though we can't gather for a major event." For more information visit: sclsnj.org/virtual-book-lovers-tea.
