About Blog Post Feb 25, 2020 by Pressroom
On March 7 from 1-5 p.m., the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) will host their 5th Annual Spelling Bee Spectacular, for children in grades 3-8, at the Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School, located at 14 Vogt Drive in Bridgewater.  "I am looking forward to participating in the Spelling Bee as a judge once again this year,” said Nancy Stoll, SCLSNJ library commission vice chair. “It is a strategic priority that our Library System continues to connect with schools in our County to assist in the enrichment and development of our children. Participation in the County Bee helps our children expand their vocabulary, strengthen their academic skills, and boost their self esteem. It is amazing to watch these students spell!” The winner of SCLSNJ’s Bee Spectacular will be eligible to attend the 2020 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Additional prizes will be awarded including a one-year subscription to Merriam-Webster Unabridged Online. "Participation in SCLSNJ’s 5th Annual Spelling Bee Spectacular is in direct alignment with our strategic priority of creating meaningful interactions and connections,” said Karen Pifher, SCLSNJ manager of branch services - young minds and family resources. “Participants in the Bee are granted the opportunity to interact with their peers and the community because of their great accomplishments of winning their local spelling bees.
