Somerset County Library System of New Jersey to Host 4th Annual Countywide Bee Spectacular Scripps Spelling Bee

About Blog Post Feb 28, 2019 by Pressroom
On March 16 from 2-6 p.m., the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) will host their 4th Annual Spelling Bee Spectacular, for children in grades 3-8, at the Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School, located at 14 Vogt Drive in Bridgewater. "As one of the newer Commissioners, I am thrilled to be a part of the Spelling Bee this year — hopefully the first of many years to come,” said Nancy Stoll, SCLSNJ library commissioner. “The bee allows children to practice their spelling and grammar, explore vocabulary and cognitive skills, and enhance their public speaking experience. I am pleased the Library System partners with our County schools to help in the development of our children.” “SCLSNJ offers many wonderful programs and opportunities for the community. One such program is the Annual Spelling Bee,” said Corinne Fender, SCLSNJ library commissioner. ”I have been a judge for several years and would not miss the opportunity to participate again this year. This event spotlights the effort and academic achievement of students in the community. Watching the participants during the spelling bee is a priceless experience. Best of luck to all the contestants.” The winner of SCLSNJ’s Bee Spectacular will be eligible to attend the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Additional prizes will be awarded including a one-year subscription to Merriam-Webster Unabridged Online. “We're excited to be the community partner hosting the Scripps Spelling Bee for Somerset County for the fourth year,” said Brian K. Auger, county library administrator. “More than just a fun event, it highlights the Library as a cornerstone educational institution that promotes lifelong learning.” SCLSNJ is delighted to announce the following students who will be participating in the 4th Annual SCLSNJ Bee Spectacular (information appears as placard number for spelling bee):
