Somerset County Community Resource Event Offers Free Household Items and Support Services

About Blog Post May 15, 2025

Somerset County residents in need are invited to attend a Community Resource Event to receive free household items, essential information on helpful services, substance abuse support, details on available community programs, and more. This event, sponsored in part by the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey, aims to provide valuable assistance to individuals and families facing challenges.

The event will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at 300 Union Ave., Somerville, NJ 08876. It will take place on Friday, May 16, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This marks the eighth Community Resource Event of its kind. The initiative began as a response to residents affected by Hurricane Ida but has continued due to the ongoing need and positive community response. According to the United States Census Bureau, approximately 17,000 Somerset County residents live below the poverty level. While specifically aimed at assisting in-need residents, the event is open to everyone in the community.

The Community Resource Event is made possible through the collaboration of dedicated sponsors:
