Explore the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture at the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Warren Twp. Library branch, located at 42 Mountain Blvd in Warren Twp.
The Art Space at Warren presents “A Place for All People,” a commemorative poster exhibit that highlights a selection of the 30,000-plus piece artifacts that are on display at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, which is located in Washington, D.C.
Organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition service in collaboration with the Smithsonian Museum, “A Place for All People” is based on the inaugural exhibitions of the museum. The posters highlight key artifacts that tell the rich and diverse story of the African-American experience.
The exhibition presents a living history that reflects challenge, triumph, faith, and hope. The posters display the child-size shackles of a slave, the clothing worn by Carlotta Walls on her first day at Little Rock Central High School, the track shoes worn by Olympian Carl Lewis, and more.
This colorful and informative exhibit, which ends March 31, is available to the public during regular Library hours.
