SCLSNJ’s Bridgewater Library Branch Makes Enhancements for the New Year

About Blog Post Feb 12, 2020 by Pressroom
For the last 90 years, the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) has evolved to meet the needs of the community. In order to enhance the patron experience in 2020, the Bridgewater branch has completed several upgrades.  “Over the years we have found that the Library serves as a gathering space for our community, which is one of our core services,” said Ed Hoag, manager of branch services, adult learning and community engagement. “The Library is so much more than just books – these upgrades are necessary to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers.” Upgrades include new carpet, furniture, and paint in the lobby; repair work and new carpet on the stage in the meeting room; new roller blinds on all the windows throughout the branch; and a thorough cleaning and painting of the soundproof booths in the adult nonfiction area. “People sit in the lobby all day,” said Christopher Korenowsky, director of public services. “This is the people’s lobby and the Library is the people’s university. SCLSNJ wants to create a pleasing space that people want to come to and stay within as we head into the 90-year milestone of the Library System. It is imperative that the building reflects our strategic priority of exploring new ways to shape our spaces to meet community needs as we head into 2020.” Previous to these upgrades, the branch received a new sound system, projector, tables, and chairs in the meeting room, where many programs and community meetings occur.  “As always, we are grateful for the donations from the Friends of the Bridgewater Library, who hold their on-going and annual book drives at the Bridgewater branch” said Hoag. “Such upgrades would not be possible without the generosity and continued support from our stakeholders.”  For more information contact Hoag: ehoag@sclibnj.org or 908.458.8416.
