The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Bridgewater Library branch, located at 1 Vogt Drive in Bridgewater, will host Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County’s (LVSC) annual fall soiree on October 25, from 7-10 p.m.
“What better way to support literacy than an evening in the Library?” said Aimee Lam, LVSC executive director. “Being able to read, write, and communicate opens doors and provides opportunities for our students and their families. At Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County we are proud to work with amazing volunteer tutors who strive to help others learn English and participate fully in the community. We do not receive government funding, so events like the soiree help us to raise the money we need to recruit, train, and support our volunteer tutors. We’re looking forward to another great event with our Library partners and hope to see many new faces there!”
The Bridgewater branch will be transformed after-hours into a fall festival. Attendees will share laughter with the improvisational comedy of the Improvables; enjoy seasonal refreshments, delicious dessert, and an open wine bar; and connect with their community.
Tickets are $60. Proceeds from the event support LVSC’s free adult literacy services including: one-to-one tutoring, English conversation groups, and U.S. citizenship preparation classes.
