For the third year, the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) will host a job and volunteer fair for adults and teens (ages 16 and up) with cognitive and developmental disabilities on April 4 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the Bridgewater branch, located at 1 Vogt Drive in Bridgewater.
As part of SCLSNJ’s Strategic Plan, the Library System is committed to creating meaningful interactions and connections within the community and providing opportunities that build Somerset County’s economic and workforce development.
“The disABILITIES Job and Volunteer Fair is an exciting opportunity for the Library System to build bridges between under-employed communities and the organizations who could greatly benefit from the hard work and talent of our residents with cognitive and developmental disabilities,” said Rebecca Crawford, branch manager and chair of SCLSNJ’s special needs task force. “SCLSNJ recognizes that many people with disabilities, along with their families, feel overwhelmed when it comes to searching for a job.”
During the event, teens and adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities will have the opportunity to apply and/or interview for volunteer and job positions in the Somerset County area.
Attendees will include:
- Alternatives Inc.
- The ARC of Somerset County
- The Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board
- Grace Healthcare Services
- Ridewise, Inc.
- TapSnap
- And more
