An exhibition of artwork from the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s staff can now be observed at SCLSNJ’s Warren Township Library branch, located at 42 Mountain Blvd. in Warren Twp., through the end of January.
The art show, “SCLSNJ Staff Pics,” highlights a variety of mediums including photography, watercolor, ink, pencil and chalk drawings, and a mixed media cross stitch.
“I submitted my piece to the art space because I thought it would be fun to display my work. Being a youth services librarian, I was inspired to recreate the cover of the young adult novel, ‘The Smell of Other People's Houses,’ by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock,” said Katie Salerno, youth services librarian at the Bridgewater branch.
Staff from the Bridgewater, Watchung, Hillsborough, Bound Brook, and Warren Twp. branches submitted a total of 27 works of art for the exhibit, which will be available for the public to view during normal business.
“I took a picture in high school of a Long Island Railroad train station from an overpass. I enlarged, printed, developed, and colored it all by hand. I never had a chance to submit it to any art shows, so I'm happy to see it displayed at the Library,” said Chris Murray, adult services librarian at the Bridgewater branch.
Other participating staff members include: Kathy Amberg, circulation department supervisor at the Watchung branch; Patrice Sprovieri, library technician at the Bridgewater branch; Julia Meier, library assistant at the Bridgewater branch; Hannah Kerwin, branch manager at the Watchung branch; Bob Kucharski, library assistant at the Bridgewater branch; Michael Horner, library assistant at the Bridgewater branch; John Hosmer, library assistant at the Bridgewater branch; Brian Auger, county library administrator; Sharon Orlando, youth services librarian at the Watchung branch; and Krista Cardenas, library technician at the Bound Brook branch.
