SCLSNJ to Offer Second Pour of Coffee Time Talks

Indulge in coffee, conversations, and more at your Library Beginning this April, the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) will offer a series of programs for adults exploring science, technology, history, and culture. Additionally, the System will be digging deeper into local and national history through live-action, living history presentations. “We are looking forward to a new edition of our popular series, Coffee Time Talks,” said Marcela Dunham, system programming coordinator. “There is something for everybody: genealogy, World War II history, Shakespeare’s gardens, and more. These programs offer a wonderful opportunity for patrons to learn more about a variety of interesting topics in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere while meeting new people and mingling over a cup of coffee or tea.” All programs run from 11 a.m. - noon. Attendees are encouraged to stay through 1 p.m. to converse with fellow patrons and enjoy some light refreshments. May 7 - Fourth Oldest Hiker Walks the Appalachian Trail SCLSNJ’s Bridgewater Library branch, located at 1 Vogt Drive in Bridgewater Mike Venus shares his story of hiking the entire Appalachian Trail at the age of 77. Library branch, located at 42 Mountain Boulevard in Warren Queen Victoria, portrayed by actress Alisa Dupuy, will share stories of her childhood and her marriage, and will debunk some popular myths surrounding the woman who gave her name to an era. May 24 - Jack the Ripper: Profiling a Serial Killer SCLSNJ’s Manville Library branch, located at 100 South 10th Avenue in Manville Clinical psychologist Dr. Mark Vogel will offer an overview and psychological profile of infamous serial killer Jack the Ripper.
