SCLSNJ Library Card Art Contest Winners Selected

Abby Zissman, 12, of Skillman, and Dan Landau, of Bridgewater, voted fan favorites

After an intense social media battle, Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) library card art contest winners have been selected. In the youth category, Abby Zissman, 12, of Skillman, was selected as the fan favorite. In the adult category, Dan Landau, of Bridgewater, was selected as the fan favorite. Zissman and Landau’s designs will be featured on special edition library cards available throughout the summer at all 10 Library locations. The winning youth category submission from Abby Zissman, 12, of Skillman. “We had entries from children as young as 4 up to senior adults, from throughout the county, who shared with us their imagination and creativity. It was marvelous to see how people interpreted books and the library in their art,” said Jessica Trujillo, SCLSNJ youth services manager. Voting for the contest was cast online via Facebook, in branch, or by email/phone. Zissman received 168 votes, and Landau received 351 votes. The top 10 entries in each category were then voted on by members of SCLSNJ’s Library Commission and Somerset County’s Freeholder Liaison Brian Gallagher. The System received 36 teen and adult entries and 68 youth entries. All entries are available to view online at Facebook.com/SCLSNJ. The top 18 runner up entries will be featured throughout the summer as special edition bookmarks, soon to be available at all 10 SCLSNJ locations.
