Somerset County Library System of New Jersey's (SCLSNJ) Somerville branch invites you to go from farm (or backyard garden bed) to table this summer.
In April, Library customers participated in several gardening basics programs to learn how to start their home gardens, and received a selection of vegetable and herb seeds courtesy of Baker Creek Rare Seeds. Additionally, vegetable plants and seeds were planted in the branch's raised garden bed.
Now that these seeds are beginning to bloom, the branch is inviting customers to return to explore ways to use that resulting bounty by attending a monthly recipe swap event titled Yum in the Tums.
"All you need to do is bring a copy of a recipe you love, be ready to share your history with it, and then sit back and enjoy a delightful evening of community conversation," said Jen Sulligan, branch manager.
The first event in the series will be hosted at the Somerville branch on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 6 p.m. Registration is required: https://sclsnj.libnet.info/event/10241014.
The program will continue to be hosted once a month:
- Wednesday, June 12 at 6 p.m. - https://sclsnj.libnet.info/event/10241011.
- Wednesday, July 17 at 6 p.m. - https://sclsnj.libnet.info/event/10241012.
