Read the World with PressReader

About Blog Post Jan 18, 2024 by SCLSNJ Staff
Read the World with PressReader Created by Linda Tripp, collection development librarian New Jersey is one of the most diverse states in the nation. So perhaps it’s not a complete surprise that a recent study named New Jersey as the second most linguistically diverse state (after California) in the country. How fortunate that the Library’s subscription to PressReader offers access to digital publications in 60 different languages from more than 120 countries.  While publications in English were, by far, the most often read by SCLSNJ library card holders using PressReader last year, newspapers and magazines in more than 15 other languages also featured in usage statistics. Joining the thousands of always available digital magazines and newspapers in the Library’s PressReader subscription in 2023 were two new publications: “The Economist” and “USA Today.”   Here are the languages of publications read last year, in order of popularity:
  • English
  • Swedish
  • French
  • Spanish
  • Italian
  • Dutch
  • German
  • Chinese
  • Portuguese
  • Japanese
  • Gujarati
  • Norwegian Bokmål
  • Russian
  • Korean
  • Danish
  • Romanian
And the most popular titles read by SCLSNJ patrons in 2023:
  • “New York Daily News”
  • “USA TODAY” US Edition
