Prepare for PARCC Testing with SCLSNJ

Lumos StepUp™ Library Test Prep Program Accessible for Free at your Library

Starting in January, the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) will offer six programs to teach children and caregivers how to use Lumos StepUp™ Library Program to help prepare for PARCC (The Partnership Assessment of Readiness for College and Career) testing. PARCC is a computer-based state mandated/required test that was created to prepare students for success in college, career, and life. The exam combines the high expectations of Common Core standards and requires students to think critically and solve real-world problems. “Many SCLSNJ patrons are familiar with Lumos Learning as an excellent online resource to help their children prepare for PARCC standardized tests. However, we'd like parents and teachers to know that Lumos StepUp also offers year-round academic support for students, with access to instructional lessons and videos for basic to advanced math skills and writing skills,” said Linda Tripp, SCLSNJ collection development librarian. The resource includes hundreds of grade-appropriate questions based on Common Core Standards and Language Arts. Students and parents can review practice test answers and gain insight into students’ strengths and weaknesses through an interactive dashboard. Guided introductory programs on how to use the resource will begin January 16 with Billy Taylor and Mukunda Krishnaswamy, Founder & C.T.O. of Lumos Learning.
