October Focus on Horror: Elliott Gish

Our Focus on Horror Month author for today is Elliott Gish.
Gish's debut novel, "Grey Dog," was published in April. From the publisher's description: "A subversive literary horror novel that disrupts the tropes of women's historical fiction with delusions, wild beasts, and the uncontainable power of female rage. 1901: Ada Byrd -- spinster, schoolmarm, amateur naturalist -- accepts a teaching post in isolated Lowry Bridge, grateful to live where no one knows her secrets. Soon, Ada realizes that something beastly lives in the heart of Lowry Bridge, and it both beckons and repels her. As her own grip on reality loosens, Ada wonders if the real horror is her."
"Grey Dog" has received a number of great reviews, including a starred review in “Publishers Weekly,” which noted it as "the arrival of a bold new voice." Author Kelly Link said of the novel: "Elliott Gish has produced a ripe, exquisitely rendered gothic in which wildernesses, both interior and natural, are dangerous, seductive, and bloody spaces."
