“North Woods” by Daniel Mason
Review by by Yvonne Selander, collection development librarian
A house sits alone on the edge of deep, dark, yet lovely woods in the northwestern corner of Massachusetts. It sees many owners, visitors and interesting goings on. This is the story of the stories that the house witnessed and the people who left their mark, and perhaps a bit of their spirit, on the land.
It’s been a while since a book has wowed me with an original concept and excellent execution, nevermind captivating writing and surprises galore. No matter the genres you enjoy, this house in the woods of Massachusetts will keep you entertained and enthralled from the first to the last page. Helpful hint: have something apple, be that tea, fitters or cider, at hand. It’ll make it just that much better.
