Celebrate Ag Day and Earth Day through a series of nature-inspired programs
Spring is the season that represents growth and brings new beginnings to our planet. With changes to the climate, and pollution at an all time high, it is more urgent than ever to learn how to protect the Earth and nurture nature. Explore nature with the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) through a series of nature-inspired programs.
“It doesn't get much more green than the public library,” said Meredith Hoyer, SCLSNJ youth services librarian. “The public library enables communities to share materials and reduce waste. Instead of 400 people buying 400 copies of a book, those same 400 people can share 20 copies of the same book. Our transition to digital content has exponentially strengthened that impact. SCLSNJ's annual celebration of Earth Day gives us the opportunity to teach kids about the environmental benefit of public libraries and promotes green efforts elsewhere in the county, while also showcasing cool, earth-friendly entertainment like Bash the Trash.”
Program attendees will have the opportunity to connect with nature by exploring gardening, by crafting eco-friendly projects, and by learning more about the environment.
“Nature is all around us and the two programs presented by The Somerset County Park Commission will enable us to be more aware about the wonders of earth and nature, not just on Earth Day, but everyday,” said Fiona Kennedy, SCLSNJ adult programming coordinator,.
