Murder Road” by Simone St. James Review by Yvonne Selander, collection development librarian It’s July 1995, and April and Eddie simply want to celebrate their honeymoon. A wrong turn down a desolate stretch of road changes everything for the newlyweds. They pick up Rhonda Jean, shuffling down the side of the road, no other cars or anything in sight. Once the woman is in the car they notice the blood, all the blood, and rush her to the hospital. Now April and Eddie are stuck in this small town wrapped up in a murder investigation. Soon they discover that MANY people have died along that desolate stretch of road. Could it be a serial killer? Need something spooky? You can’t go wrong with a Simone St. James novel. I eagerly await the new one every year. There is always something supernatural at play, but your brain accepts it because the author creates a reality where it just makes sense. Add in well crafted characters, April and Eddie are fully formed people who could walk off the page, and you have a supernatural thriller that will keep you guessing and turning pages long into the night.
