Local Lawyer Voted SCLSNJ Commission Chair

(Somerset County, NJ: February 22, 2017)  Long-time Somerset County resident and local lawyer Chris Corsini has started 2017 on the right foot: at the January Somerset County Library System Commission meeting, after seven years as a member of the Commission, he was voted chairperson; then in February, he was named partner at Savo, Schalk, Gillespie, O'Grodnick & Fisher, one of the largest and most successful law firms in Somerset County. “From the moment a patron walks in the door, the experience at your library should always be positive,” said Corsini. “In every decision we as the Library System Commission undertake, we should have that in mind: a positive, educational experience. I am looking forward to working with the other Commission members, as well as the Library System’s staff, to continue to impress with vigilance and knowledge.” “As Commission members, we are not librarians; we are community volunteers and patrons,” Corsini continued. “We have certain specific responsibilities, the most important being to advocate for our libraries. Our goal is always to provide resources to staff so that they may succeed.” A graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan High School, Franklin & Marshall College, and Seton Hall University School of Law, Corsini has been practicing law since 2009 and has been with Savo, Schalk, Gillespie, O'Grodnick & Fisher for over three years. He has served a variety of civic organizations, including the Bridgewater Township Open Space Advisory Committee, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties) and as an attorney-coach of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Mock Trial team. Since 2014, he has been a member of the District XIII Fee Arbitration Committee, a subsection of the New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics that fosters fair, efficient, economical and expeditious means of resolving fee disputes between clients and attorneys with the goal of fostering public confidence in the legal profession. He is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Somerset, Somerset County’s community leadership program. “Public service is so important,” said Corsini. “We live in this community and we benefit a lot from it. Sometimes we forget how much we benefit. You want to try to give back, and you need to find something you connect with. I like to read and I love a good story. I want to make sure that these stories stand for the generations that are yet to come, and that children have the same opportunities that I did here at the library.” “I see the Library System as a part of what makes Somerset County so liveable,” said Corsini. “Our libraries are places to learn, to explore.
