This November and December, the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) is collecting donations for the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter (SRAS) for the 20th year. In 2018, Library staff and patrons donated over 1,000 pounds of food, pet goods, and other supplies to the shelter.
“Our staff and patrons truly take the Library's mission to heart, where it says that we partner with you ‘to connect, to explore, to share, and to discover,’” said Brian Auger, county library administrator. “I am deeply honored to work with so generous a staff and such a giving community. We look forward to working with our neighbors and friends in this our 20th year of coordinating opportunities, to share with those in our community whose needs are greater than our own.”
Every year, SRAS takes in nearly 1,000 orphaned animals including cats, dogs, and more. The shelter aims to find these animals their forever homes, as well as provide services.
“SCLSNJ recognizes that local giving provides support for the organizations that enhance our community well-being,” said Edith Lit, operations supervisor.
