About Blog Post Jul 27, 2022 by SCLSNJ
After almost three years, the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) will be participating in Somerset County’s returning 4-H Fair, spanning Wednesday through Friday - August 10, 11, and 12, 2022. The Library is excited to once again participate in this magical community event. SCLSNJ librarians will be hosting two exclusive storytimes for children and their caregivers, hosted within the Somerset County government tent.  On August 10 from 10-11 a.m., Watchung branch Librarian Katie Salerno will be hosting a Get Up and Move Storytime. On August 11 from 1-2 p.m., Hillsborough branch Librarian Jessica Fazekas will be hosting a Magical, Mystical Story Hour. “Think of a book as an extraordinary spell and, then, start reading and let your imagination be transformed - one book at a time,” said Brian Auger, county library administrator. “Your library has thousands of ways to be spellbound and we want to share them. Our staff are wizards at matching you with books to enchant you all summer long. Come see us at the 4-H Fair and let’s make some magic together this August!” Additionally, visitors are encouraged to visit the SCLSNJ booth to craft a custom spell book full of coloring activities, word searches, connect the dot games, and more. Library staffers - known to some as research wizards, information magicians, or book conjurers - will be on hand to help participants find the perfect magic spell … or, maybe, your next favorite book. "Library staff members are the real magicians,” said Lynn Hoffman, director of operations. "If there's ever information you scour the internet for but just can't find, or a book you read that you can't remember the title of (but you know it was blue), talk to us. We love a good stumper! It may look like magic when we produce the result you need, but it's just us putting our skills and experience to work for you." On Friday, while supplies last, visitors will be able to participate in a special #FreeBookFriday fair edition. To collect a free book - one per person - individuals will be asked to write their favorite thing about the Library on a vintage library card handout.
