In 2023, SCLSNJ cardholders explored thousands of courses offered through the Library’s subscription to Udemy, spending more than 3000 hours learning new skills. And it was time well-spent, as collectively they viewed 25,000+ individual lectures. If you’re unfamiliar with the online learning platform, it’s definitely worth taking a look. Library patrons have access to nearly 20,000 online video courses in the areas of business, tech, and personal development, across 75+ different categories. While technical and business courses were the most popular options explored by our patrons last year (see below) there were many other topics of interest. Patrons learned how to achieve work-life balance, get more organized and improve their time management skills; refine their handwriting and learn speed reading; and brushed up on their iPhone photography, video editing and video storytelling skills. Language learners explored courses on writing, speaking and pronunciation, grammar, business terms plus more in American English, British English, and other languages. Interior design, and decluttering home, office, and life are topics you might not expect to find, however patrons chose these and many more video courses to improve their lives.
