Music has the ability to transport you to places you have never been. It can affect your mood, emotions, and even overall health, according to a 2018 Time® Magazine article. So, take a journey and explore a series of music for all ages this summer at the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Mary Jacobs Memorial Library branch, located at 64 Washington Street in Rocky Hill.
“The Summer Sounds concerts are a great opportunity for our community to get together on a weeknight, have a picnic on the lawn, listen to great live music at no cost, and meet up with neighbors,” said Manny Miracle, adult services librarian. “It's wonderful to see multiple generations sing and sway to the same music; this event truly promotes a sense of well being that can only be attained through a shared sense of culture and community.”
Attendees will hear local favorites, such as the Professors, and discover new favorites including the Rocky Hill Ramblers, while connecting with their community.
“This summer we're really pulling out all the stops for our summer concert series,” said Zoe Lopez, adult services supervisor. “With the enthusiastic support of the Friends of the Mary Jacobs Library, we're bringing in some old favorites and also some new faces, including Lolly and YoYo, a kid-centric duo that will have kids of all ages rocking the lawn. We'll also have some incredible bands, encompassing swing, blues, folk, rhythm and blues, and more. So bring your picnic and chairs and come on down!”
