It’s Time for Spring Cleaning!
Created by Linda Tripp, collection development librarian What is it about spring and cleaning? Is it the arrival of a fresh new season, with longer daylight hours and renewed sense of hope for the future? Is it because we unfortunate cold-weather souls have been hunkered down in our abodes, rarely emerging into the cold and wet? Are we inspired by the birds, bees and creatures stirring to build their new homes or refurbishing old ones? Throughout history, cultures have embraced thorough deep cleaning, either in conjunction with the celebration of a new religious year or tradition, or just the arrival of warmer weather after a long dark winter. Some people love to clean, or at least don’t mind it too much. Meh, I can’t claim to be part of either of those groups. But give me a great book on audio or my favorite tracks to listen to, and I can just about tolerate it. So throw open those soon-to-be sparkling windows, crank up those headphones, and get going! You’ll appreciate it when you’re done and enjoying the renewed cleanliness and, hopefully, peace of your interior spaces.
