International Film Festival Arrives in Somerset County: Library System to Host Screenings for the Public

September 22, 2026 — Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) is excited to announce screenings of the 29th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival, a global film celebration spanning over 500 cities in six continents. 

Between September 24 and October 4, 2026, more than 100,000 film enthusiasts will gather around the world to view the same ten Oscar-eligible short films. Unlike traditional film festivals, each attendee of the Manhattan Short screenings will receive an official ballot to cast their vote for Best Film and Best Actor.  

Community members will have the opportunity to catch an advance preview at the Warren Township branch or attend the feature partnership event at Raritan Valley Community College’s Nash Theatre. The RVCC event will invite attendees to have lively, informal conversations with each other and library staff members, as well as provide an opportunity to connect with community resources. 

"We are thrilled to be partnering with RVCC to bring the global phenomenon of the Manhattan Short Film Festival to Somerset County," said Cortney Frank, SCLSNJ Program and Outreach Manager. "This festival is an interactive celebration of cinema that directly connects our residents with film lovers worldwide."

Screening schedule:

  • Thursday, September 24, 6-9 p.m. at the Warren Township branch (42 Mountain Blvd, Warren, NJ)
  • Friday, September 25, 11 a.m - 2 p.m.  at the Warren Township branch
  • Friday, October 2, 6-9 p.m at Raritan Valley Community College (118 Lamington Rd, Branchburg, NJ)

All screenings are open to the public and free to attend. Registration is required for the Warren Township branch viewings.
