I Laughed So Hard I Screamed!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year according to me. I love all things spooky and scary, but I adore movies that make me laugh and scream, especially at the same time. Let’s put it this way, my last three feline friends were named Ash, Shaun and Ed (IFKYK.)
- “Abigail” -- A team of criminals are assembled for an easy job. Kidnap a kid and babysit her until her ransom is paid. Too bad they weren’t told who her father is or some important things about Abigail.
- “Army of Darkness” – Ash J. Williams, loyal S-Mart employee, travels back in time to get the Necronomicon and stop the army of the dead. At least that was the plan.
- “Cabin in the Woods” – Every single horror trope combines to make this meta-horror movie that will keep you guessing what is really going on.
- “Critters” – Long live the weird 80s horror movies like “Critters” – hungry, toothy Tribble-like (What is a Tribble?) creatures that crashland in the middle of farm country.
- “Dead Snow” – Friends trek to a remote cabin in the Norwegian wilderness for a relaxing ski vacation but things go wrong when the Nazi zombies crash their party.
- “Fido” – Timmy and Fido are inseparable. But things take a turn when Fido eats a neighbor. Oh yeah, Fido is a zombie played by Billy Connolly.
- “Freaky”-- Millie, a high school student, finds herself in the body of a middle-aged deranged serial killer (played excellently by Vince Vaughn) and she has less than 24-hours to get her body back.
- “Get Out” – Chris is nervous to meet his girlfriend’s parents but she assures him that they are fine that Rose, who is white, is dating a Black man. But Chris can’t help but think that something is seriously wrong in this part of suburbia.
- “Grabbers” – Something very hungry is invading rural Ireland and to avoid being eaten the villagers must gather together at the pub and get creative to survive.
- “Happy Death Day” – Imagine “Groundhog Day” as a horror movie. A college student relives the day of her murder over and over and over again until she identifies her murderer.
- “Hot Fuzz” – A hot shot London cop is transferred to a sleepy crime-free village only to find that something is very, very wrong there. Timothy Dalton steals the show in this fun horror, thriller, buddy-cop movie.
- “Ready or Not” – Every family has traditions. But the wedding night traditions of one family may end up killing the new bride.
- “Shaun of the Dead” – Shaun is not having a good day. No one listens to him at work, his roommate is having a fit over his best friend Ed and his girlfriend just broke up with him. Oh, and the zombie apocalypse is happening outside his window, not that he or Ed has noticed yet.
- “Tremors” – Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Michael Gross and Reba McEntire battle prehistoric sandworms they call Graboids in the middle of the American desert.
- “Trick ‘r Treat” – Spooky, scary and pretty gory stories combine to create a patchwork of tales set in a small town over Halloween. Sam, the creepy pumpkinhead kid in a onesie, is the takeaway favorite.
- “Tucker & Dale vs. Evil” – Tucker and Dale are ecstatic to spend the week fishing at their new vacation home. Local college kids see the duo and assume the worst: that crazy redneck hillbillies are out to terrorize them. But who is terrorizing who?
- “Violent Night” – A rich family is having a tense Christmas Eve when mercenaries invade the festivities. Good thing Santa, fantastically played by David Harbour, is up on the rooftop to hear a young girl's plea for help.
