“How to Solve Your Own Murder” by Kristen Perrin
Review by Yvonne Selander, collection development librarian
Frances Adams has known for decades that she would be murdered one day. Not one for fancies she latched on to that fortune teller’s prediction and never let go. While many thought she was a fool it turns out she was right: her body was found, obviously a victim of foul play, on her country estate. At the reading of her will she makes one thing clear from beyond the grave – want her money? You need to solve her murder, something she obsessively tried, and failed, to prevent for decades.
Annie Adams, the great niece of Frances, is trying her hand at writing a mystery novel. Who better to solve the crime? But as she gets closer to the truth she wonders if things go pear shaped who will solve her murder?
Fans of any type of mystery will enjoy sleuthing alongside Annie. Don’t let the cover fool you! This isn’t just an ordinary cozy. While it does have that vibe there is definitely something sinister going on from the first pages. It’s understandable why this debut is on many best of 2024 lists already.
