The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey's (SCLSNJ) Hillsborough branch kicked off its Creative Aging workshop series thanks to an in-kind grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
In early August, teaching artist Margaret Fanning presented pen and ink techniques and guided participants in the creation of illustrations based on still life objects.
"Creative engagement, and the joy that is found through pursuing such endeavors, fosters a healthy and happy older adulthood (55+)," said Jen Sulligan, adult services department supervisor. "I am so happy to be able to apply my arts-based education experience in the library setting and inspire the older adults in the community to create and enjoy."
