For Kids and Their Grown-Ups: “Ruffles and the New Green Thing” by David Melling Review by Laura Frantz, collection development librarian Ruffles is a puppy that loves all kinds of things like running, digging, and playing fetch. But the one thing Ruffles does not love is green and currently sitting in his bowl. Ruffles stares at it, pokes at it, and smells it. When his pal Ralph, a fearless dalmatian, comes to play, it gives Ruffles the much-needed incentive to rethink that green thing in his bowl.  This is another fun addition to the Ruffles series by David Melling. Readers will delight in Ruffles expressive reactions to all his activities. Melling peppers descriptive action words throughout the text for a rich vocabulary experience. There is a lot to enjoy in this picture book, and it will give picky eaters plenty to chew on.
