For Kids and Their Grown-Ups “Eclipse” by Andy Rash Review by Laura Frantz, collection development librarian In school, a young boy learns about an upcoming total solar eclipse and starts making plans to see it happen. He picks out the perfect spot for viewing. He orders special dark glasses. And then, he and his dad head to the spot and witness this magical astronomical event unfold. Once it is over, they head back home and the young boy researches when the next one will take place. It won’t be for years, but he assures us that he and his dad will go again and be “in the perfect place at the perfect time.” This picture book is ideal to share or read aloud in preparation for our upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8. It is based on author Andy Rash’s own personal experiences in 2017.  The illustrations are stellar and showcase the practical steps of what happens during a total solar eclipse. He also highlights the unexpected moments that happen along the way. The close relationship between father and son adds to the book’s charm. This story shines bright.
