The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey's (SCLSNJ) Warren branch has been encouraging readers of all ages to dive into reading this season with their interactive, summer-themed bulletin boards.
In June, readers were asked to vote for their favorite fish - Dory versus Baby Shark versus Rainbow Fish. Dory was the big winner with 299 votes out of the over 500 cast. In July, readers were asked to vote for their favorite swim locale - Lake versus Ocean versus Pool. Pool was the big winner with 92 votes out of the almost 200 cast.
Want to explore a few good reads about fish and other seafaring creatures? SCLSNJ's expert librarians recommend:
- "Hooray for Fish" by Lucy Cousins
- "The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark" by Ken Geist
- "Shark Detective" by Jessica Olien
- "Misunderstood Shark: Friends Don't Eat Friends" by Ame Dyckman
- "Barnacle is Bored" by Jonathan Fenske
- "I’m Getting a Shark" by Brady Smith
The beautiful display was created by Library Assistant Karen Maloney. A sea turtle display will be swimming into the branch in early August.
The Warren branch is located at 42 Mountain Boulevard in Warren. For more information, call (908) 458-8450 or email warrentownship@sclibnj.org. To explore and discover even more ocean-themed books, email SCLSNJ’s expert staff at ask@sclibnj.org.
