Find What You Need Faster, Easier with Library Checkout and Catalog Upgrade

Learn how to save your Library wishlists and borrowing history

This year has been the year of technology for the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ). The System has already seen a new visual user experience release at SCLSNJ.org, a new phone system installed, an updated calendar and reservation system, and an upgrade to internet speed and reliability at all ten branches. In early December, the Library System will be completing their most impressive enhancement with an upgrade to their almost fifteen year old checkout and catalog system. The new system, CARL•X from The Library Corporation, will offer patrons a suite of innovative features including improved search capabilities and the release of a curated children’s catalog. “We think patrons are really going to love the new catalog system,” said SCLSNJ Director of Operations Lynn Hoffman. “People who are accustomed to shopping for products online will find it has a very familiar feel. And our Library power users will find a host of new features that will make them even better at searching the catalog.” In order to get ready for this exciting change, Library patrons should prepare to save certain information that will not migrate over from the old checkout and catalog system to the new upgraded interface. Two such items are patron borrowing history and patron wish lists. Saving your borrowing history and wish lists is a 3-step process that you can complete at home or with the assistance of an SCLSNJ staff member at your local branch. Step 1: Log into your Library account at SCLSNJ.org. Step 2: Click on the My Borrowing History or My Wish Lists link along the left sidebar of the window. Step 3: Click on the Export Borrowing History or Export My List button along the top of the window. And you’re done! You can then import your lists to a number of outside reading websites including GoodReads or LibraryThing, you can save your exported data to a Microsoft or Google spreadsheet, you can print your list, or you can choose to email your list to yourself.
