Bust Through Boredom This Winter Holiday Season With Your Neighborhood Library

About Blog Post Dec 14, 2023 by SCLSNJ
The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) wants to help you bust through the boredom, the cabin fever, or the loneliness that might occur during the winter holiday season. Your Library offers educational, enjoyable, and free break buster programs in December to help you and your family truly enjoy every moment of the holidays. “As a working mom, I'm not usually able to take my kindergartner to library programs during the week,” said Cassie Collucci, customer experience manager. “That all changes during the winter break when we both have days off and get to really enjoy fun library events together, while also getting out of the house, mixing up our routine, and trying new activities. Break Buster activities are a great way to spend a winter day!” Participate in Game Day hosted at our Warren Township branch located at 42 Mountain Boulevard in Warren. This event will be hosted (twice!) on December 27 and December 28 beginning at 11 a.m. For questions, call (908) 458-8450 or email warrentownship@sclibnj.org "We are so excited to provide programming for families during winter break at the Library,” said Allie Ziff, program and outreach manager. “Our Library staff prioritize providing programming that fills in gaps for parents and caregivers especially when school is closed. If you need something to do for free this winter break, explore the many break buster programs at our branches." Participate in a Cozy Read-a-Thon on December 28 at 10 a.m., hosted at our Montgomery branch. Our Montgomery branch is located at 100 Community Drive in Skillman. For questions, call (908) 458-8430 or email montgomery@sclibnj.org "The end-of-the-year excitement can take a toll on parents, and a bored child is an added challenge,” said Crystal Hooper, North Plainfield branch manager. “The Break Buster programs that the library has planned are offered at a variety of times throughout the day, for all age groups, and everyone is welcome. It's a fun time of year to play games, do crafts, and do something different." Participate in New Year's Eve at Noon on December 29 at 11:30 a.m. at our Hillsborough branch. Our Hillsborough branch is located at 379 South Branch Road in Hillsborough. For questions, call (908) 458-8420 or email hillsborough@sclibnj.org “My boys have a ton of energy and it all just compounds during our two week winter break,” said Carolyn Donchevich, graphic specialist. “Having the option to bring them to the Break Busters events is a great way for us to spend some time together on my days off and create some cool things to bring home. Plus, we all get to pick out new winter books and playaways to keep us busy during long holiday road trips!” Participate in a STEAM: Instant Snow educational (and fun!) program on December 29 at 4:30 p.m. at our Watchung branch. Our Watchung branch is located at 12 Stirling Road in Watchung. To contact the Watchung branch, call (908) 458-8455 or email watchung@sclibnj.org To explore more break buster events, visit SCLSNJ.org/break-busters-2023.
