July evenings bring warm breezes, with the bright stars of the Summer Triangle (Altair, Deneb and Vega) rising in the East. On this night, we’ll be treated to a magnificent telescopic view of the nearly first quarter moon, and we'll glimpse Mars before it sinks low in the West. As the sky darkens, if the night is clear we’ll view the massive Great Globular Cluster of hundreds of thousands of stars in Hercules, as well as the Ring and Dumbbell nebulas, remnants of dying stars. The double star Mizar and colorful double Albireo should also be stunning in our telescopes. Join us for an interesting and informative night under the stars with the Morris Museum Astronomical Society at the Hillsborough Public Library!
