The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) is pleased to announce a unique collaboration with Somerset County’s Department of Human Services, aimed at enhancing digital accessibility for County residents.
“Known for its commitment to providing access to information and internet connectivity services, SCLSNJ stands as a beacon of inclusivity and opportunity,” said Cathy DeBerry, branch manager. “As a response to the unexpected closure of our Bound Brook branch, this initiative further underscores the Library System's essential role in helping to close the digital divide. The partnership between the two County agencies and the resulting creation of this digital mobile van is a transformative step towards fostering greater connectivity and support within our communities.”
Somerset County’s mobile HELPS van will be parked at Bound Brook’s New Jersey Transit commuter lot located at 106 East Main Street in Bound Brook every Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. beginning May 22, 2024. The HELPS van will offer residents access to Library and County-based services including, but not limited to: printing, email and internet access, photocopying, scanning, Library materials holds return, and a limited browsing collection.
In addition to offering digital and electronic resources, the mobile HELPS van will provide County residents an opportunity to engage directly with Somerset County’s Department of Human Services, including access to the County’s expert licensed social workers. Since May is Mental Health Awareness Month, challenge yourself to prioritize your personal self-care and take advantage of the robust resources available throughout Somerset County.
If you are unable to visit the mobile HELPS van in May, visit your local branch and check out a librarian-curated and recommended book. SCLSNJ’s collections offer a large selection of varied and informative books to help you on your wellness journey.
