Virtually Meet New President and CEO Chris Edwards
Somerset County doesn’t have a Chamber of Commerce. More accurately, Somerset County doesn’t just have a Chamber of Commerce, instead we have the Somerset County Business Partnership (SCBP).
“No matter if you are a small business owner or part of a larger organization, there is something SCBP can do for everyone,” said Chris Edwards, President and CEO. “I want everyone to walk away with some benefit - whether they are a member or not.”
SCBP works to support its members (800+ and growing) and the larger community through business advocacy, by offering and sharing access to information, by promoting the County’s tourism industry, and by hosting events and networking opportunities - with over 241 programs being planned and hosted during the pandemic alone!
On September 15 at 7 p.m., the Library System will be hosting a virtual program featuring Edwards, which will allow the public time and space to learn more about SCBP, as well as ask questions about future County-wide initiatives.
“In early September, we will be launching a new initiative - Why Somerset County,” said Edwards. “The initiative is geared toward businesses moving to Somerset County or employees new to this area - we will be able to share all the reasons why moving to Somerset County was, and is, the best choice. We will also be working hard to further convince current businesses of the value in staying right here in this amazing County.”
Edwards not only loves and advocates for Somerset County, but is also a strong supporter of the Library System. If he is not reading a book by favorite authors David McCullough or Nathaniel Philbrick, you can find him in the children’s room checking out a book from the Good Night Our World series for his toddler son.
“The Library is an unbelievable asset to this County,” said Edwards. “Not just the obvious - access to books - but there is so much more that the library does. It brings people together, hosts outstanding events, and has mountains of resources for business professionals. We love to get the word out about the Library.”
