To stay informed and connected, staff attend our monthly virtual all staff meeting. We also offer departmental training, cross-branch collaboration for program development and system maintenance, and leadership development workshops led by senior management.
In addition, SCLSNJ supports professional engagement by providing complimentary memberships to industry organizations like ALA, NJLA, NJALA, and LibraryLinkNJ. Travel reimbursement is also available for staff representing SCLSNJ at conferences, meetings, and trade shows.

SCLSNJ Job Application Process
Applicants must submit the following items with the job title and job ID number on all documents:
- SCLSNJ Application (This link opens PDF file) NOTE: You must fill out your application entirely including specific hours you are available to work. i.e – not TBA or TBD.
- Resumé and Cover letter
If you are applying for a Librarian position, you must submit your New Jersey Librarian’s Certificate. Library Intern applicants must submit their transcript to show they are enrolled in the program and have the required 18+ credits. (Recent graduates or out-of-state candidates who do not have the NJ Librarian’s Certificate yet, will need to be able to provide it as soon as possible.)
Applicants applying through email should send all documents as PDF attachments to jobs@sclibnj.org (zip files, png, and jpegs will not be reviewed).
Applications can be dropped off at a branch during open library business hours and must be in a sealed envelope. Do not drop off loose papers.
When mailing application documents, be sure to address envelope to the Human Resources Department.
NOTE: Human Resources reviews and scans all PDFs and printed documents before they are sent to a Hiring Manager.
You may apply for more than one job, at the same time.

Due to the large volume of applications and resumes that are received, SCLSNJ will only notify candidates if they are selected for an interview.
If a candidate is selected, our Human Resources Department will contact candidates via phone and email to schedule an interview.

For Librarians applying to work for SCLSNJ:
If you are a Librarian, a MLS or MLIS certification is required, please submit your New Jersey Professional Librarian’s Certificate with your application materials.
Students may apply for a library intern role if they submit their transcripts to show they are currently enrolled in the program and have the required 18+ credits.
Recent graduates and out-of-state candidates will be required to submit their credentials and an NJ Librarian’s Certificate within an allotted time.
