Volunteers who wish to use their specialized skills (such as working with local history materials, gardening, or crafting) can reach out to any SCLSNJ branch or to volunteer@sclibnj.org
Volunteer placement
Submission of the volunteer application does not guarantee placement or engagement as a library volunteer. Applicants will receive automatic confirmation email once their application has been received. Applicants will be contacted by the Library within 2 weeks regarding the status of their application.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Branches
Local History Support Volunteer
This opportunity will specifically focus on working with microfilm and will need strong spreadsheet skills.
This opportunity will assist with the ongoing Disability Social Hour Program

This opportunity will need strong sewing skills, and will assist with an ongoing sewing program.

This opportunity will focus on digitization of photos from photo albums.
Volunteer Opportunities with Friends Groups
Volunteers with the Friends help run the continuous book sale, sponsor concert events, create publicity for Friends events, and help guide the Friends as a group.

Volunteer Opportunities with Library Partners
LVSC is looking for volunteers who would like to teach English to adults in Somerset County. LVSC volunteer tutors meet with their students at our libraries, and help their students reach life goals big and small - from ordering from a menu to preparing for the U.S. Citizenship test.
Teaching experience is not required, and training is provided.

The Food Bank is looking for volunteers to help with operations at the main site in Bridgewater and satellite outreach sites across the county. Food Bank volunteers help sort received items, stock the pantries, gather donations, and help clients find what they need. There are opportunities for all skill levels and time commitments. The Food Bank especially needs volunteers during the day on weekdays.
