The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) 11 locations are known throughout the community as the place to find a great book. And, we are. But, the Library is also the place to discover and relive the fascinating history of Somerset County.
“Captivating images of the history of the library and the surrounding community can be found in our archives and provide a visual narrative of the changes our communities have undergone over time,” said Rebecca Ward, library assistant. “These archives tell the story of the library’s enduring role as a hub of entertainment and communal engagement for all who have graced its doors. Though the building facade and staff faces may change over the years, the unwavering significance of the library as a cornerstone of our community remains unchanged.”
On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the Bound Brook branch opened its archives and welcomed customers to take a walk through the past to dig through vintage yearbooks.
“By bringing to light the history of our community and sharing it with the public, our Throwback Thursday events aim to provide Somerset County residents, both longtime residents and newer arrivals, an increased sense of connection and appreciation for our County’s rich history,” said Aaron Pickett, branch library supervisor.
The branch will be hosting historical journeys each Thursday in September from 5:30-7:30 p.m. No registration is required to participate in these events.
