The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
All anyone knows of the murder is that successful painter Allison Berenson shot her equally successful photographer husband five times in the face with his hunting rifle one night. In the weeks that followed she painted one picture. Since that time she hasn’t painted again and since the murder she hasn’t spoken a single word.
Allison lives in a psychiatric facility and a new psychiatrist is determined to get through to her and make her speak again. The therapy that he feels may take years is put on a strict deadline of a few weeks since getting this infamous murderess to speak would help keep the doors of the imperiled institution open and keep all the staff employed.
There is something about this one that makes you gasp towards the end. It’s compulsively readable and the construction of the story is superb. So superb you don’t even realize what the author did until you’re supposed to figure it out.
This book comes out February 5th so get your holds on what is set to be the thriller of 2019!
