If you enjoy a lushly written novel, with an obvious affection for language, you must read “The School of Essential Ingredients” by Erica Bauermeister.
The novel plays with the ideas of memory, nostalgia, regret, longing and food. A beautifully descriptive novel, the story revolves around a cooking class and the multi-dimensional cast of characters who inhabit this corner of the world. This warm and engaging story offers a new way of looking at food as well as a way to compassionately perceive yourself and others.
Treat yourself to a cup of tea, a pair of warm, fuzzy socks and your favorite blanket and wrap yourself in this luxurious novel. You’ll soon forget how cold it is outside.
