The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley
It’s tradition for a group of college friends to reunite over New Year’s at some interesting location. This year they are spending the long weekend at a hunting estate up in the Scottish Highlands. The group has remained friends through the years but some are beginning to wonder why exactly; but it’s tradition so they all go along. There are eleven people at the estate when the storm blows in. Only ten are alive when it ends.
I adore “locked room” mysteries. You know someone that you’ve already met is the murderer and you know that everyone is going to have a juicy backstory. This one fits the formula. And just like the formula the murderer is one of the people you least expect.
Waiting for this one to come in on hold? Read An Unwanted Guest while you’re waiting. In this one the snowed-in hotel is in the Catskills and the death count is rising — will the remaining guests discover the murderer before it’s too late?
