Thanksgiving is right around the corner. How did that even happen?!? So we’re sharing our favorite side dishes — because it’s all about the sides, right? And pie. We have to talk about pie.
Here at SCLSNJ it’s all about the stuffing, including meat stuffing a Quebecois recipe. We’re also big on sweet potatoes or yams (with pecans, in casseroles or with mini marshmallows) and mashed potatoes and gravy.
We are also quite fond of: baked potatoes; carrots (buttered or horseradish); corn pudding; salad; spinach casserole; tostones and whole berry cranberry sauce.
Pie. Let’s talk about the pumpkin pie, our FAVORITE. varieties of pecan and apple were also popular.
Some tables will be enjoying: anything with chocolate; black tie mousse; cherry; chocolate cream; coconut custard; quiches; strawberry rhubarb; and sweet potato. Two people were not fans of pie, but one suggested tres leche cake as an alternative. Yum!
Some of us have decorated for Thanksgiving this year and some of us are sharing images of Thanksgiving’s past. Like everything it’s going to look different this year; it’s a time to fondly remember the holidays of the past, create new traditions in the present, and look forward to the future.
