SCLSNJ offers a wealth of valuable and unique resources for genealogy and local history research, including:
- local newspapers
- family histories
- community scrapbooks
- and more!
You may visit any SCLSNJ branch to begin your research or use our online research databases. There is no charge (other than printing or photocopying) for self guided research or in-person genealogy research assistance.
With the assistance of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, SCLSNJ created a digital archive of Somerset County’s community memories. The archive includes photographs, postcards, and other digital images of the past and present. Through special partnerships with community organizations, Rolling Thunder and Frontline Arts, special collections of artwork and historical documents have been digitized and added to our collections. We continue to add to our collections every day.
Want to share a personal photo, video, story, or poetry? Make your mark in Somerset County history by submitting a digital item to the SCLSNJ Historical and Community Memories Archive.
In 2017, Mary C. Nelson, Hannah M. Kerwin, and the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) published a multi-volume historical resource, “The Old Presbyterian Graveyard, Bound Brook, New Jersey: A Resource.”
